Big Media I

Big Media I

In what has proven to be one of the strangest presidential election years in the modern era, both the Democrats, and the Republicans have in turn squandered their opportunity to put forth a 'can't miss' standard bearer who might have steamrolled the competition. In a year when a President who is publicly loathed by both the print & electronic media equally, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee should be able to score a decisive victory. Yet the party's power brokers and, the more influential than most Super-Delegates seemed poised, even determined to have as their nominee an apparently indecisive, obviously inexperienced, though hopeful pretender. That he is a man of color should not have mattered but there was no mistaking that at least for some it was certainly part, even a major part of the reason they gave their support to the less than one term senator from Illinois.

Thus, in a year when the Democrats stand to increase their already existing majorities in Congress perhaps to super-majority status (if certain political analysts are correct) their party should be able to run anybody for President and win! Having Big Media as an ally certainly couldn't hurt either. But a funny thing happened to Big Media's - "you can't call us racists" - pick on the way to victory lane.
The casual observer, many of them voters not yet engaged in the process started to take note when Barak put two sentences out there for everyone to digest. In sticking with Rev.Wright, candidate Obama stated he "could no more seperate himself" from his crazy uncle Jerry than he could seperate himself from the black community. And as if that wasn't bad enough his total lack of concern for his 'typical white' grandmother as he threw her under the bus was confusing to most voters. Most white voters at least.
Obama's well documented Twenty Year association with Trinity United Church in Chicago and, his multiple rationalizations in defense of Reverend Jeremiah Wright, a man he has called his "spiritual mentor" brought closer scrutiny than the candidate was prepared to handle, even with Big Media trying to bury the story. Ironically, Barak Obama's vaunted Race in America Speech was an open invitation for one and all to get to know more about the church ministered by Rev.Wright and, the Trinity United parishoners as well.
Around blogs and, dinner tables alike began discussions and, the topic of the day was the "Doctrine of Black Theology". Despite Big Media not giving the story a fair airing word got out and, has given voters...no, let's be honest, it has given white voters reason for a closer inspection of Barak Hussein Obama.

To be sure it was not what white Americans thought they would see. An even bigger shock was to then be told Trinity United is representative of the majority of black churches today! A large number of white voters had been treated to a peek into the closet that holds the skeletal remains of racism and, there was still plenty of meat on them bones. The animosity towards whites so blatantly obvious in the black community it cannot be shrugged off as 'reverse-racism', besides there is no such thing really. Racism is...or is not, there is not grey area. And suddenly, it was beginning to look like Big Media had fashioned their "Messiah" out of whole cloth. It was even beginning to look like the candidate Obama, was himself a racist.
When we finally came eyeball to eyeball with Father Pflegger, were not shocked to find he is yet another spiritual advisor to Obama from some point in the Senator's career. And if we, the white voters who question Barak's capacity to run the country were supposed to think - "Oh look! Even white Catholic Priests feel the same way!" - it didn't work.
The average person was, as they should be, as appalled at Fr.Plegger's rhetoric as they were at Rev.Wright's. But at least Fr.Phlegger gave Barak a way to 'distance himself' from Trinity and, he could point to the white guy's sermon as being the reason. In Barak's world Fr.Phlegger is actually the 'crazy, third cousin', on grandma's side of course.
Big Media has done its level best to make the claim that Senator Obama's parish of the past 20 years, Trinity Church, has not affected his standing in the polls. Incredibly, they overlook the cold, hard fact of their guy's not winning consistantly, nor anything big since February. Worse yet, they went past the point of being forced to grovel in front of Hillary, surely by now the punishment would be much, much more degrading and, definately something the manly men of Big Media are not willing to do. So they are now stuck with Obama as their Democratic Party nominee.
With still, over 90% of black voters turning out supporting Obama, white voters are left asking "Why?"
Is it actually JUST the color of skin that makes him acceptable to black Americans? If just one Barak Obama supporter can honestly tell me that Barak is the best, the most qualified black man available for the job of President Of The United States, then I might reconsider my position as to just how dangerous this novice, undistinquished Senator actually is. But please don't even think about using all that messianic, meaningless, 'change' & 'hope' b.s..
Every voter deserves an honest answer to whatever questions they have. Obama's generic answers, his many gaffes and, blunders when speaking off the cuff, without aid of a written page or teleprompter just don't cut it for me. "Words. Just words." to quote the candidate himself.
